    In conjunction with Riverside Garden Centre, 4YourPet present various species of ducks available for purchase in the Riverside Garden Centre store. All ducks are subject to availability and must be bought in pairs.

    Dabbling Ducks

    This is the largest tribe of Wild foul. These ducks have colonized all of the major continents as well as many small oceanic islands. The majority of the Dabbling Ducks show a strong difference in form between the male and female. As their name implies, the Dabbling Ducks obtain their food by feeding in shallow water

    Stiff-Tails

    These occur only in the Southern Hemisphere, including South America, South Africa and Australia, however the White-Headed duck is confined to the Northern Hemisphere. Stiff-Tails are short bodied, dumpy birds with relatively long tails comprised of stiff feathers and often held up at an angle. All species are very aquatic and spend little time on land. They are very accomplished divers aided by the position of their legs well back on their body

    Shelducks

    Most widely spread in Eurasia. There is a slight difference in plumage between sexes. Although they can walk and run well, and do much of their feeding by sifting mud and shallow water, they swim much more readily than other ducks.

    Whistling Ducks

    Members of the Whistling Duck family are found throughout the subtropical and tropical regions of the world. There are no sex differences in the plumage of any of the species, though males tend to average a little larger than females. Once paired, they stay together for life. They are very sociable ducks.

    Perching Ducks

    These ducks are found mainly in southern temperature, subtropical and tropical regions of the world. The male of the species have a bright and elaborate plumage and show more complex displays and calls. All the species breed in holes or tree hollows.

    Diving Ducks

    Occurring widely in North America and Eurasia, the Diving Ducks are a bulky species, with broad body and generally short tail. Plumages tend to be subdued but even so, the male of the species are brighter than the females. Their legs are further back than those of the Dabbling Ducks aiding their ability to dive, but making their progress on land much less agile.

    Seaducks

    All these species are restricted to the Northern Hemisphere. The Eider Ducks are mostly large bodied birds with a heavy bill and strongly contrasting male and female plumages. All species of Seaducks eat aquatic animals, from small invertabrates to quite large fish. The latter are obtained by diving, and can go down up to 50 meters staying down for up to a minute.
